Q. How long is my membership valid?

Your membership if valid for one full year from the time of purchase.

Q. How can I purchase or renew a zoo membership?

We offer five easy options:

  1. Onsite - Memberships purchased at the zoo's Membership Booth prior to your visit are effective immediately and a temporary membership card is issued to you on the spot!
  2. Online - just choose a membership and fill out the form.
  3. By phone - call the Potawatomi Zoological Society at (574) 288-4639 Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Purchases by phone will be accepted with a MasterCard or Visa.
  4. We can mail a brochure/application to you. Just fill out the information on the brochure request form and return it by mail.
  5. Print and complete the online membership application and fax it to (574) 289-3776.

Q. How old must I be to have a membership in my name?

You must be at least 18-years-old or older to have a membership in your name.

Q. Someone else is taking my children to the zoo, can they still use our membership?

All listed dependent children are able to use the membership without the listed adults as long as they do two things in advance. 1: Call the Potawatomi Zoological Society Membership office at (574) 235-7651 Monday – Friday 8:30-4:30 to let us know in advance that this will be happening, and 2: Have your children bring a copy of the membership card and a copy of one of the listed adult’s IDs. No other people except those dependent children are able to use the membership privileges. No unnamed guests will be admitted under this pass. Please note that this is a one-time pass and must be done each time your children will be visiting without you. Child's Passes must be filled out at least 24 hours in advance.

Q. How long will it take to receive my membership cards?

If you submit your application in person, by mail, fax, online or by phone, your membership will be processed and mailed to you within fifteen business days. Memberships purchased at the zoo prior to your visit are effective immediately and a temporary membership card is issued to you on the spot! If you purchase your membership online, you can show your e-mail confirmation receipt along with a copy of all named adults' IDs and you can gain immediate access to the Zoo.

Q. How many cards will I receive?

Two. Additional sets of two cards are $5.00 per set.  Please allow up to 15 business days for processing zoo memberships purchased by any method.  Tickets for attractions and premiums (for some levels) will be mailed with your membership cards. 

Q. Why do I always have to show ID when entering the zoo?

In order to protect the integrity of all Potawatomi Zoo memberships and the benefits associated with them, we ask that all named adults on the membership show a piece of identification, such as a driver’s license, to prove that it is the membership holder entering the zoo. This also protects our members should their membership cards be lost or stolen. 

Q. Can I loan out my membership card to a family member or friend?

No, your membership card(s) and associated privileges are not transferable to any other individual. Your membership has a tremendous value. To protect the rights of our members, we will ask to see your photo ID, such as a driver's license, at the time of your visit.

Q. Can I use my Potawatomi Zoo membership at other zoos?

Your membership at Potawatomi Zoo has many great privileges such as using our Reciprocal Program. This reciprocal program gives you free or discounted admission to over 100 zoos across the United States and Canada! Make sure you always travel with your membership ID! 

Q. How will I know to renew my membership?

You will receive three pieces of mail around the time of your membership – One piece a month and a half prior to your membership expiring, one piece two weeks before your membership expires, and one two weeks after your membership expires. In order to prevent a lapse in membership, renew as soon as you get that first renewal form! 

Q. What do I do if I lose my membership card?

Call the Potawatomi Zoological Society at (574) 288-4639 to report lost cards. There is a $5.00 fee for replacement cards.

Q. How do I change my address, phone number, or e-mail address on my membership?

You can either visit any open admission booth and get an Active Membership Change form or call (574) 235-7651 to change it through the phone. Doing this will ensure that you will continue to receive UPROAR and our Conservation Calendar, as well as other important information about your membership.
