Jamaican Fruit Bat
The Jamaican fruit bat’s body is covered with short, soft fur. The fur on their backs is brown to grayish in color while the belly fur is usually paler. Their fur has a pleasant odor similar to a perfumed soap. These bats have a leaf nose and lack an external tail. The Jamaican fruit bat can use echolocation although they will largely rely on sight and smell to find their food. When frightened, they will emit a distress call that attracts other bats, which will mob the predator, such as an opossum.
